Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 2026

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and provide essential functionality. We also use localStorage for certain client-side preferences.

2. Manage Your Preferences

You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the controls below.

Your Cookie Preferences

Essential Cookies

Authentication & core functionality

Always On

Analytics Cookies

Google Analytics — helps us improve the game

You haven't set your preferences yet. Use the banner at the bottom of the page or toggle above.

3. Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies (Always Active)

Required for sign-in, session management, and account security. These cannot be disabled.

Clerk Authentication

  • __clerk_db_jwt: Clerk session JSON Web Token
  • __client_uat: Clerk user authentication timestamp
  • __session: Active session identifier

Hosting (Vercel)

Our hosting provider Vercel may set cookies for load balancing and security purposes.

Analytics Cookies (Optional)

Used only when you accept analytics cookies. These help us understand how players use the game so we can improve it.

  • _ga: Google Analytics — distinguishes unique users (expires after 2 years)
  • _ga_*: Google Analytics — maintains session state (expires after 2 years)
  • _gid: Google Analytics — distinguishes users (expires after 24 hours)

We track events such as room creation, bet placement, and race completion. No personal information (name, email) is sent to Google Analytics. You can opt out at any time using the preferences panel above.

Local Storage (Browser)

We use browser localStorage (not cookies) for the following. These never leave your device.

  • cookie-consent: Remembers your cookie preference ("all" or "essential")

4. What We Don't Use

We do not use:

  • Advertising cookies or ad trackers
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Cross-site tracking of any kind

5. Real-Time Connections

During gameplay, your browser maintains a WebSocket connection to our real-time game server (PartyKit, powered by Cloudflare Workers). This connection is used solely for live game communication and does not set cookies. Connection data is ephemeral and discarded when you leave the room.

6. Managing Cookies

You can manage your analytics cookie preference using the panel in section 2 above. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies (particularly Clerk authentication cookies) will prevent you from signing in and playing the Game.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this cookie policy as we add new features. Check back periodically for updates.
